Best early season snow coverage in several years and more is on the way. With the 6+ inches expected tomorrow, there will be nearly 12 inches of compacted snow cover out there in the open areas (less under dense foliage).

It's a little known fact that the Pinnacle trail system is every bit as much fun in the winter time as it is on 2 wheels in the summer.

The snowshoeing is great even before the storm tomorrow, and for the advanced backcountry explorer there is a variety of touring oportunities as well as a few hidden expert level gladed alpine downhill stashes.

I don't have my touring gear (Yet!), but my snowshoes are by the door and in use at every opportunity so if your only excuse is you don't have anyone to go with post up here, chances are myself or someone else is available.

Would love to meet you tomorrow Ryan and hike the Pinnacle but I am hiking Waimea Canyon with Helen tomorrow. No snow shoes required. Would you like to join us?

I would love to do that Dan, but it's a little late to get a flight and I don't think anything will be flying out of New England tomorrow.

Let me know when your next trip to the islands is and you can stow me away in the luggage.

Update: Snow coverage is about 18 inches of compacted snow for the most part, so coverage is real good.

Finally picked up a pair today and picked up a pair for my son for Christmas. Plan on doing a lot of snowshoeing this winter to try and get back in shape. A lot of it will either be at a kids pace, or a semi adult pace pulling a tired kid in a sled. Hopefully I will get out on my own a few times also.

I need to lose the 15lbs I gained over the past year.
