I have a colleague at work who is a runner and I have been talking to him this fall about some goals I have for my own running. He has been a great resource ... and more to the point regarding this email ... he has shown me a pretty neat website that uses the pretty popular (so I am told) Jack Daniels running formula to calculate optimal training (not drinking) paces based upon your recent race time. The website also has a pretty neat age-grading calculator. Put in your PR when you were a youngster and it will tell you what your equivalent age-graded time would be now that you are longer in the tooth:

P.S. One of my fall goals is to run the Manchester Marathon in a couple of weeks (November 4). I will be running the first half with Tina. She will turn left at the 13 mile point and I will turn right to tackle the second half alone.

I have used this site several times. There are a few others out there as well. I also have the software that converts results to age graded time from my professional timing days.

I saw Bob Herrin today and learned that he and Laura are running the Manchester Marathon. Rumor has it that other local area runners to be in attendance are Becky Bates and Dan Labbe.
