Nice tune-up for the longer races ahead and the VT gap ride. Butt hurts a little today. [img:7c60f52a7e]http://www.team-pinnacle.org/albums/bc_personal/120x90.png[/img:7c60f52a7e]

Glad to here you still feel pain, you are human after all. I was beginning to wonder with some of the times you've been turning in lately. Ryan

Tim, we already have quite a few rides mapped out on this site under the Local Loops link at the top. Here is the link to the Sir-Climbs-Alot loop: http://www.team-pinnacle.org/local-loops/loop.php?loopID=225®ion=9&sport=1 Ryan

Would there be any interest in this ride over the weekend. I'm not sure yet that I can, but definitely interested. -- Ken "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini

I am interested in riding Sir Climbs-Alot before the year is out but it will have to be after GG for me. I'm also interested in riding Ascutney if anyone else is interested in that. Ryan

Well, no takers on Sir-Climbs-A-Lot till after GG. I'm not interested in doing the loop alone, so I will be riding the same 74 miler that I did back on Memorial day instead. If anyone is interested in this ride, let me know. I can do it tomorrow AM. Would like to head out around 8am at the latest, much earlier if doing it solo. Great ride today. The rain held off except for a little sprinkle at one point. I love this loop. Starts off with some great climbs, followed by a fun downhill. The rest is just a continuous up and down till the end. Thanks for joining me Dana. -- Ken "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini

This is a great ride. I particularyly like 2nd turnpike thru Unity, Lempster, Washington and Goshen all the way to rte 103. Then Oak St to Blueberry Ridge. Then finish it off with Ken pulling 28 mph down Washington St.

Any takers to do Sir Climbs-A-Lot on Monday (9/7)? If not, I might scoot up to the White Mountains instead. I love that ride. -- Ken "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini

Well, I rode it solo today. Head winds sucked. I totally underestimated the difficulty of Methodist Hill. Didn't have to stop/walk on any hills. 7:47:43 is total time out including stops. Don't have my fancy Polar watch to keep track of stop times, so I will just guess that I was off the bike for about 10 minutes (2 store stops, 2 bathroom stops). -- Ken "If you brake, you don't win." It was definitely hard, both physically and mentally. Being out on the road for almost 8hrs alone was tough. You start thinking about things way more than you should. "Can I finish this, should I finish this, do I really need to finish this?" Of course, the answer to all is YES. I changed the starting point to my house, so I hit the 2nd NH Turnpike climb first. Then on to Lempster MT RD. My legs were fresh for both of those, so it wasn't too bad. On the way down Rt. 31 I stopped at my parents house to drop off my heavy jersey, jacket and winter gloves. I stopped at the Goshen store to fuel up, at this point I had been out for close to 2hrs. I jumped back on the bike and was off to Lear Hill which was not too bad. I got into Newport, climbed Oak Street hill and then stopped in the woods near Corbin Bridge for a bathroom break. Then, I was back on the bike. When I got to the top of Young Hill, I had drank all the gatorade in one waterbottle, so I emptied a 20oz bottle of water into the water bottle, dropped in an Elixer tablet and was off again. I climbed up into Springfield, made the right turn onto 4 corners road and stopped for another bathroom break. The ride up 4A sucked. There was a wind almost the whole length of the road. I climbed to the top of Ruddsboro and my legs were still feeling good, which is important, because the 3 big climbs are coming up. I couldn't believe it, but I felt like I was floating up King, even without going into my biggest gear. I got to the top and wasn't even winded. Keep in mind, the first 1/3 mile of King is 19%, and it usually does major damage to me, but for some reason, not this day. Then off to Eastman, which proved to be very painful, but I made it up without having to stop. Eastman is pretty much just as steep as King, but longer, and it only gets steeper as you get to the top. I stopped at the store at Exit 16, bought some more liquid and some more food, and was off. Methodist hill was nasty. I have never ridden it and totally underestimated how much it was going to hurt, but I made it to the top. There is an absolutely beautiful view from the top. You can see Mountains going on forever. I really wish I had the camera. Then down the other side of Methodist, it feels like you are being shot out of a cannon. Other than King and Eastman, which are very steep and scarry to go down, I have never been so nervous on a downhill. Rt. 120 was relaxing and so was Stage road. 12A totally sucked. It was a very long stretch of flat road but there was a nasty, annoying headwind the whole way. I reached the top of the last climb on 12A and had a great feeling of accomplishment and lots of pain. So, yesterday I wasn't sure, but today, with how much my legs still hurt, I definitely agree with Brian, that this ride is worse than LAMB. -- Ken "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini
