Greetings all. As a new rider trying to get into shape to keep up with you all and traveling for work a lot lately I have not gotten many rides in this year. but i just went sunapee to stoney brook to grantham and up loverin hill back to 10 up sunapee street to sunapee. All I can say about loverin hill is OUCH!!!
But it is a nice ride with a nice pay off coming down. the wind to day was a bear.

Nicely done, Andy.... The fact that you can see the whole thing doesn't help, just look down and before you know it, your at the top. One day you will find yourself racing up it, trying to beat your classmate Brian's time of 3 minutes 48 seconds.

Yes Loverin is a fun hill. You will find there are many equally or more difficult hills around with a little investigation. If you are in Sunapee, get a few miles under your belt and give Trow Hill a try (http://www.team-pinnacle.org/local-loops/loop.php?loopID=64®ion=9&sport=1).

If you have a mountain bike you might want to try using it first, Trow Hill is that steep. As soon as you turn off of 11 the first rise is Trow Hill, it is significantly shorter than Loverin, but I think you will agree with me, that Loverin will seem a whole lot easier after riding Trow. Also if you decide to ride the rest of the Trow Hill Loop be warned the roads on the Trow Hill side of 11 are in bad shape, I don't recommend a road bike on them, the rest of the loop is good thou.

PJ I think Brian can rest easy that I will not be challenging his record, well not this summer any way.

I have been eyeing Trow hill.....I have run it a couple of times and so I know what it is like. I think I will keep that for later in the year. Next up I think is heading to Goshen/Unity from sunapee heading over the road by the Back side Inn (is that called brook rd?) and then if I am feeling froggy going over lear hill. THen again that might be two rides.

Any way thanks for the ideas and the encouragement.

BTW I did ride with Glenn a few weeks ago. Been on the road so have not called him to ride in a couple of weeks. Hopefully he is able to join you all on the weekend.

Yes, Brook Rd. It was freshly repaved last year and is a fun mostly downhill ride from Newbury to Goshen. See the Lear Hill Loop: http://www.team-pinnacle.org/local-loops/loop.php?loopID=126®ion=9&sport=1.

The first mile+- is uphill but after that it is all downhill to Goshen. The first 1/4 mile of Lear Hill is the worst, after that it continues to climb mostly with some big rollers, you can hit 45 coasting on one of them. Unity Road and Pollard Mills Rd was also freshly repaved last year. This is a fun loop if you can get over the couple big climbs on it.
