[b:5bc94d7678]Team Pinnacle Announces 2007 Events[/b:5bc94d7678] [b:5bc94d7678]Newport, NH[/b:5bc94d7678] - 2007 is shaping up to be another exciting year of events being presented by Team Pinnacle. Once again the Newport based club will be offering three highlight events for outdoor adventure athletes to challenge themselves. The season kicks off on Saturday, June 9th with the second edition of the Six in the Stix trail run. ?Stix? is a 6.2 mile (10K) race through the historic and challenging Newport town forest. The course features miles of classic New England singletrack, ample climbing, ledge scrambles, rocks, roots, mud, and the infamous ?Quad Burner?. Stetson?s pure NH maple syrup awaits the top three in each class and there will be an adult led .75 mile fun run for the kids. All proceeds from the race benefit the Richard?s Elementary School PTO. Next up is our signature event, The Pinnacle presented by McCrillis and Eldredge Insurance on Sunday, August 26th. This classic mountain bike race is an Eastern Fat Tire Association (www.EFTA.com) premier event and is race #8 in the New England Championship Series. The race known for its lung burning climbs and hair raising descents will bring more of both in 2007 with the addition of the Coit Mountain trails. Also new this year will be the non-competitive cruiser class. Curious about mountain bike racing, or maybe you want a fun ride on well marked trails? The cruiser class is for you. There will be custom awards for all classes and the Elites will be racing for $850 in cash. All proceeds from the event benefit the Newport Lions Club. The season finale is the Pinnacle Challenge on Sunday, October 7th. The ?Challenge? is a Double Duathlon format that highlights what Team Pinnacle is all about. Solos and teams will attempt to conquer the 5 mile rail trail/road run, 6 mile mountain bike, 14 mile road bike, and 3 mile trail run. The course is pure New Hampshire with covered bridges, rural farms and stonewalls all against a backdrop of the beautiful fall foliage. The Challenge is entering its third year and has received rave reviews from the competitors. It is quickly becoming a ?must do? on any multi-sport athlete?s fall calendar. There are custom awards for all classes, cash for overall winners and bonus awards for best split times in each discipline. There is a 250 racer limit for this race, so sign up early. All proceeds benefit the Newport Rotary Club. Registration for all three events is now open and available on-line.
