I was running on the pinnacle challenge trail run course tonight when I heard what sounded like a grading machine coming down by the water towers. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that was exactly what was happening! Right now, the rocks are few and far between on much of the ascent to the cross-over. Chris

They are logging up there, I'm guessing you saw the skidder. Good to have less of a ravine down the center of Summer, but what will suck is having to mountain bike up that soft dirt. Ryan

There will be a logging operation going on throught October. I talked to the guy today and discussed how the road should be left when he is done. PJ will be meeting him and discussing the Oct. 14 race day problems. We may want to go around the road. I'll leave that up to the course designers.

If they drive over it enough and pack it down, it should be OK by race day.

Unfortunately they are using a skidder with tractor tires and chains and dragging trees down Summer St so it will never get "packed down" from this, the tires and the trees chew up the ground pretty good. The soft dirt is nice for running in thou and fortunately we have the side trail that you can take which avoids the steepest soft part of Summer. Ryan

Remember, this is an adventure race. Dodging skidders, sinking up to your spokes in loose dirt, all part of the adventure man. The section of road being used by the skidder really represents only a small portion of the race, I do not see this as being too big of a deal. talked to the guy, He will end Friday the 13th for the weekend and try to pack it a bit for us. We will use a section of the new bypass up towards the crossover for a bit and only have a small section of downhill road. No issue, just more adventure. we don't want to give Naimie any road advantage, so I asked them to leave the logs in the middle of the road. ( ; PJ

FYI, the ladder bridge on "Side Summer" trail between 3 Rock and Fern Alley was in rough shape so I moved it off to the side. Make sure you pull a wheely crossing the creek or you will likely endo. Ryan

Thanks PJ! I expect that many participants will look more favorably at the *soft and fluffy* version of summer street as compared to the *rocky stream-bed* version. Having run and cycled each of the legs now ... I think the race course is incredible!!!

As for the endo, the creek probably isn't deep enough for Ken to demonstrate (cat hole)!
