Still recovering from the past week of riding. I will be doing it tomorrow afternoon if anyone is interested. Probably closer to a 4:30 departure time. "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini

Sometime in the last week a lot of debree has come down on the trails. I was able to clean up the downhill course yesterday so it should be good to go but can't speak for the climb. The climb is probably riddled with debree. The turn on No Name coming into the new ladder bridge section is a little trecherous from the race, the roots tend to slide you out to the left making for a difficult transition to the ladder bridge. Weather outlook not so good over the next couple days so if you can get on the course today you will probably be better off. The course is still a little slick in places but not too bad in general. If the weather ends up being nasty the next couple days, then I might just wait till Sat, Sun or maybe even Mon. "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini

Not that it will earn me much sympathy (nor do I think it should) ... but Ken's reply prompted me to share my racing calendar for this week and next week with you guys: This Past Sunday - 2 Criteriums in Haverhill, MA (Finished 6th in one (in the money) and 7th in the other (top finisher for my team)) Last Night - A-Race at Claremont (which I won) Tonight - Coit Climb and Pinnacle Downhill (which I am pleased with how I did) Friday - Pro-Am Criterium in York, ME Sunday - Pro-Am Criterium in Portsmouth, NH Next Monday - Lear Hill Stage Next Tuesday - A-Race at Claremont Next Thursday - A-Race at New Hampshire International Speedway

You're right Chris, No sympathy. My only hope is that you're active schedule will slow you down enough that I can keep up with you on the Lear Hill Loop :D. Good luck with your racing and congratulations on your recent results. I had fun riding with you and Mark tonight and was a little amazed how well both of you did on the downhill. Ryan

Thanks Ryan. I think tonight was probably the best downhill run I have ever had. I am not sure what will happen on the Lear Hill Loop next Monday night ... though I am hoping that I will still have some matches left to burn ... just to keep it interesting. One thing is for sure ... I am looking forward to another road stage!

Crap!.....Crap! Crap! Crap!...............Naimie you weren't supposed to Climb so well. I knew time wouldn't be huge difference on the downhill, but I expected another 2 minutes on your uphill.......Nicely done. I did expect Ryan to blaze the downhill as he is riding well as of late. I should be riding on Sunday, once I get my tire back from CCD. Did anyone see Dana out there? Did you all do the road start? or rocky climb? PJ

Yes, I met them at the intersection of Summer St and Pinnacle! I also met Darren Davis of Springfield NH ( I don't know if I spelled his name correctly). He looked like a skilled rider. He said that he usually rides on Weds with a group of six or seven from the Grantham/Springfield area. I measured the supposed Pinnacle Challenge course. I missed the first right of Summer, but caught the left at the crossover. Then crossed Summer to Pine Link (at the ledge) and followed back and crossed Pinnacle to by-pass and back down. Distance = 5.3 miles. I'll ride again to catch the that right turn that I missed. Probable distance will be 5.5 miles.

Thanks PJ. While I sure did not feel like I was climbing very fast, at least now I can take some satisfaction knowing that I did not ride as slow as you thought/hoped I would. Doing the Coit Climb reminded me yet again of how a good pedal stroke on the road (high cadence with as uniform as possible force on the pedal during the entire pedal stroke) does not translate very well to a sustained climb on the mountain bike (where you are going slower and the hill is steeper and you tend to do wheelies if you pull up to much). One thing I did learn last night is that, if you time it right, you can unclip as you are wheelieing (nice word ... don't you think) and dismount the bike from the rear while going up hill.

The Coit Climb taught me that if you don't time it right and can't unclip when doing a wheelie, you can have quite an embarrassing and messy crash, but you feel much better afterwards because you are lying on your back rather than pedaling up the hill. I was hoping for a 24 minute climb, Although my expectations on this Stage race format has all been wrong anyway, so why get anything right now. Ken, not sure what time. I probably won't decide until that day. I may try to sneak in the downhill tonight on my wife's bike if its not raining too hard. PJ

Because of the weather, I am not doing the climb or downhill today. I am hoping for either Saturday afternoon sometime probably after 4, or Sunday. "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini

Back in Town from San Antonio and ready to do the Coit climb and Pinnacle down hill. Need a witness for sometime Saturday or Sunday when ever it's the best weather. We'll see how this margarita and corn chip powered Giant NRS goes.

Just lay flat and don't block the trail PJ. Sounds like I may to have to bunny hop over you on my way down. If I do I'll just take off a couple seconds from my time.

To answer PJ's question - we did the road start, like the Pinnacle race, not the rocky climb. It's a little bit more distance, but at least it keeps one from coughing up a lung within 30 seconds of the start. I think I had a much better climb up Outback as a result. The finish was at the far side of the pond, just past the cairn. Maybe we can make a set of wheelie bars for Chris and Ken? I think if Dan can succesfully bunny hop PJ he should be given a 3 second bonus.
