Russell had no cell connection for 2 weeks.

He was bitten by a spider while sleeping in a shelter the first of June. This forced him to hike off the trail to the nearest town, Troutdale, Virginia with a population of 124. Luckily, Russell found good people, Ken & Mary Riggins, who aided him with a hospital trip, the recovery week and the use of their phone.

Russell expects to test his trail skills today (Tuesday 6/12) and hopes to be heading north again on Wednesday 6/13.
