Looks like CCD Expert won, 4 Hicks & a Chick got 3rd (against some tough competition), Ken achieved his goals, and Dan had fun. Not sure how Mark felt about his race but I commend him for pushing strong for 12 hours. Not sure if I missed anyone else? Great Job Team! It was awesome to be able to check in with everyone's status from my blackberry while sitting on my parents porch relaxing and enjoying the lake. Ryan

First let me say that this was the most enjoyable race I?ve had at 24 Hours Great Glen. I?m sure the weather had something to do with it, but after some reflection I think it can be credited to the pace of racing. Having large breaks between laps to relax, clean up, tinker on the bike, eat, sleep and socialize by the fire had a significant out come on my body to perform at such an intense level. There was still the moment of dread prior to each lap, but that quickly faded once the legs and mind warmed up on the top of the first climb. Maybe we should put together a 6 or 7-person team! Hell if they eliminated the lap minimum, maybe they will consider an unlimited number of members per team. One regret I do have is that I was not in better physical condition. With sharper legs both Aaron and I could have put in sub-40 laps given the fabulous trail conditions. It would have been cool to break the 40-minute mark, which would be a first for both of us, but I don?t think we?ll see those conditions for a long time. I do wish my family could have come; it?s a nice addition to have the kids running around camp, exposing them to a heavy dose of the two-wheeled life style. Cary was a great addition to this year?s camp, as were his folks. It was good racing with Loren; she did a great job coming on to an established team with an established ?hammerhead? mentality. She learned each time out, annualized the lap and applied evolving strategies to improve for next time. I?d like to thank Brain for all his hard work getting the team lined out and organized, before and during the race. Speaking for Aaron and myself, we are not numbers guys and are often lacking any semblance of strategy beyond ?peddle hard?, so we rely on him and PJ to keep our heads screwed on correctly. I wont bore you with a race report, as most laps were rather uneventful, just very enjoyable. I did have a bird dive bomb me, two voles charge me, and dabbed once while attempting a reckless pass around a solo racer below the plummet. In my defense, I was in a race for the finish line against the team who eventually took second place in our division. The real time scoring was really coooool! Great addition to the race, can?t say the same about the card & lanyard, a wrist ban would be better. Chad Denning?s Light in Motion SECA (700 lumens) scared bikers out of my way; I didn?t have to vocally ask for a pass, just words of encouragement as I went by. Congratulations to CCD for putting 2-teams on the podium, Jay and the guys crushed the competition. Mark and Ken put in epic laps in the 12-hour event. Looks like Ken is good and strong for Virginia. Where was Dan? Oh yeah in the humungous camper that provided privacy as well as much needed shade, I hope that RV isn?t turning him soft. Helen once again caught us in the act, and Jeremy was a big help in and out of camp. Again, good race, good weather and company, beautiful setting, what else could you ask for? Alone in the woods, who stands to be King?

I had a fun time. I set my mind on riding for 100 miles, and then possibly racing if I was in a podium position. I only strayed from my plan for 1 lap, and decided not to do it again. The race started and I started riding. On lap 1 I had my only mechanical issue, which is pretty incredible since I picked up the bike brand new 2 days earlier. I fixed the mechanical issue and kept riding. Lap 2, I rode with Mark and Dan so we could come across the finish line together. After 3-4 laps, PJ told me that I was in 2nd, bad idea. I ended up pushing a little too hard on the next lap and could tell my legs wouldn't keep that pace. From then on, I told everyone to not let me know where I am. I was able to ride pretty consistent laps for 12 laps. I only went off course once at 7pm to get my lights and that was my slowest lap of 1hr 6mins. I finished my 12 laps at ~11:10, saw that I wasn't on the podium, prepared my list of excuses to the rest of the CCD crew for why I stopped and headed back to camp. So, success for me. Reached 100 miles, no injuries, no major bike issues, exercised my little demons and now feel very confident for Shenandoah 100. BIG THANKS to Dan and Helen for the ride up and all the wonderful food. BIG THANKS to Brian for the ride home. BIG THANKS to Tim, Jeremy and whoever else that helped me reach my hundred miles. I'm not sure of everyone who was involved in keeping my cooler stocked and gallon of gatorade full. It was very nice to come back from every lap and not be out of supplies. Congrats to the Expert team, you crushed it. Congrats to the 5 person coed, you guys had quite a battle. It was fun to watch, when I wasn't riding. Congrats to Mark for finishing 11 laps. Dan has definitely got the 24 Solo thing figured out. I also wish I could have had my family up there. Maybe next time. Thanks to everyone for making it such a fun weekend. Can't wait till next time. -- Ken "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini

Let?s see, where to begin. I could start two days before the race with the stocking of the camper but I?ll not bore you with that. Ken said I have the 24 hour thing figured out. Well I guess riding hard for 5 continuous laps and then coming in for more brownies, dinner, a nap, checking out CNN and then deciding I can ride whenever I want for 24hours without making anyone late or mad, qualifies for having it figured out I guess I do. Ryan didn?t think I could do it and I must admit that it was not easy but I did moderate my instincts and I had a great time. Congratulations to everyone, there were some extraordinary efforts made this weekend. Riding a bike is an intensely personal thing regardless of the skill level and venue. I go to this and other events to witness and be part of the experience; I am always impressed with the level of effort individuals are able to pull out of their bodies. This weekend did not disappoint. Helen and I were happy to be a part of the experience.

Congrats to Ken for finishing the Great Glen Century. Congrats to Loren on finishing her first 24HOGG, giving us all she had and a bit more, along with adding a touch of class to our team. Congrats to Dan for the longest lap in GG history, as far as I know they think he is still out there on lap 7. Congrats to Mark for beating the chain lube cramps and breaking a brand new light. Congrats to the expert team for smoking the competition. Congrats to the weather gods for finally getting it right. Congrats to PJ for not breaking anything. Congrats to Aaron for not having any light issues this time around. And congrats to Nathan for a huge effort that vaulted us into second place by 4 seconds with only 5 hours to go, too bad we were back in third to stay 60 seconds later. Had another great time at Great Glen thanks to all of you. Photos are here http://picasaweb.google.com/hmoneill/24HoursOfGreatGlen2010?feat=directlink, Ryan feel free to grab the ones you want for the gallery here. I cannot seem to upload here any longer. The meadow was like a ghost town after everyone left. Spooky. Rain came as well - all night long. Enjoy the photos and thanks again for a good time. Helen It doesn't matter where you go in life .... it's who you have beside you.

Safety in numbers... I can't tell you how many times I heard, "There must be a thousand of you Claremont Cycle guys out there!". I'd like to thank our support staff for in my opinion giving us the edge to win. Also a thanks goes out to Brian for the "just keep a guy on course and you'll do fine" advise... seems to work! Having everyone there all in one area was nice, kept it feeling like home. Amazing effort put out by all! Ken, I'm sure that you'll do great in VA. We should sign up somewhere to keep the weather the same for next year! www.masonracing.com www.gtbicycles.com

Congrats to all. :D The weekend was perfect. I had a blast and wished I had spent more time riding this year so I could have raced as well. What I perfect combination of weather, trail conditions and great people. Cant wait until next year. I have an extra helmet mount for my Princeton Tec head light from the weekend so if you are missing one please let me know and I will return it. Good luck to Ken. Jeremy JB
