Hey team, Here is the annual request for volunteer assistance for the Pinnacle race weekend. This year Six in the Stix is Saturday, June 12th and The Pinnacle is Sunday, June 13th. For the Stix we are looking for: - Pre-race course inspection (by bike) - A few corner marshalls in the woods (probably less than 1.5 hours). - A course sweeper (by bike or foot) - Kids race help The Pinnacle needs - Saturday field setup and course marking (swapping a few arrows where the course varies from the Stix) - Pre-race course inspection (by bike) - Arrow swaps after race start - Man water station in the field - Scoring assistants - A couple marshalls to feed the mosquitos If you plan on racing, please try and help out in one of the non-race time tasks. And please consider recruiting a non racer for the race-time tasks. Please post up with what you can do to help out. Thanks, Brian [img:7c60f52a7e]http://www.team-pinnacle.org/albums/bc_personal/120x90.png[/img:7c60f52a7e]

Due to an increase in numbers at the EFTA races so far this year, we have decided to shift our start time around a bit to ease traffic on the course. Novice class will now start at 9:30 am, sport/expert/elite at 11:00. If you plan on helping, please be prepared for a bit early start and an extra hour on the back end. Good problems to be dealing with. [img:7c60f52a7e]http://www.team-pinnacle.org/albums/bc_personal/120x90.png[/img:7c60f52a7e]

I'm still planning to race the Six in the Stix but will be out of town on Sunday. I will be around for a little while on Sat before and after the race to help out. If you want the courses blown on Friday I am happy to do that. Ryan

I'm still sitting on the fence about Six In The Sticks, but will be happy to work the Pinnacle Race--I've done the water station a couple of times and am happy to do that again (or whatever). If I decide not to "wog" the Six, I'll be happy to work that too. Guess I'd better stock up on Deep Woods Off!

Ryan - Any help with setup and tear down on Saturday will be great. Dana - You can to do the pre-race course check for the stix then be the sweeper during the event. Jewels - Get off the fence and wog the Stix. Then running the water station for the Pinnacle would be awesome. The water station is now in the field just before the riders enter woods, so not many insects to deal with. For those members who plan on racing Sunday, please plan on being available to marshall the kids race for 10-15 minutes at 10:30. We will make sure you get to your start on time. I will preview the kids course with you prior to race day. We are in decent shape for Saturday, still need a few more folks to make Sunday run smooth. Dana, may ask for some help with the kids bike race on Sunday also. Dan, would you mind being the primary timer assistant? Involves delivering raceday regs as they come in, organizing the timing helpers, posting results, ect... [img:7c60f52a7e]http://www.team-pinnacle.org/albums/bc_personal/120x90.png[/img:7c60f52a7e]

Thanks to everyone who helped out over the weekend. The races were a success in every way and you were a big part of making it happen. Here are some comments I received via e-mail after The Pinnacle, enjoy... Thanks for putting on race....awesome course today! Brian, you did a super job and I love your event!!!! I had a blast today. I raced the Pinnacle for the first time last year. This is one of my favorite races. I just wanted to say thanks for a great race, well organized and plenty of volunteers to help out on the course. So kick back, take a well deserved break and I look forward to next year. I had a lot if fun today thanks for putting it on! hey brian, it was my first time at the pinnacle, awesome course and great setup - good job to you and your team. Thanks for putting on another great race. My body hurts all over. Thank YOU Brian. Best edition of your race yet (and I have attended many editions). Seriously. I rode the Kingdom trails for two days last week, and doing your race was like racing the NEK. Freaking awesome! First off - thanks to all that put on the race today - it delivered as much sweet single track and morale punishing goodness as could be. Perfect conditions, great marshal and volunteer staff, delicious food afterwards - all in all a fun time. Thanks for hosting such a fantastic event. Three of us traveled from the midcoast of Maine to race yesterday and we were thrilled to attend the event. Great job to all of the volunteers as they made race day a blast! That was a great race and a great course. Everyone I spoke to after the event was describing how much fun they had. Myself included. Here is one I found on a race report. "We ended up with pretty similar conditions to '06, it wasn't raining, but it was foggy with about 95% humidity, which is the same thing from a traction standpoint. The course was narrow, rocky and slick, it was a bike handler's dream, if they had only not stuck 700 feet of climbing per lap into the damn thing I would have had the best finish of my life. But all that climbing makes it legit. Seriously, this is the most, best, legit-est mountain bike race, ever, if you're gonna win here you need to be good at everything."
