We have organized a ride/hike/ride which twelve people have already signed up for. The details are:

The plan is for the weekend of April 23, 24 and 25.

It involves a bike ride to Waterville on Fri to a Condo(s) the location and size TBD; meals at the condo; a hike on Sat (the Valley is surrounded by five 4,000ft's and several great shorter loop trails); use of the Waterville facilities and return bike ride Sunday. The ultimate size of the group will determine the size of the accommodations.

Re cost: A unit which sleeps 10 (4 br) would be $$427.50 for 2 nights tax included (Minimum rental time is two nights). A 5BR which sleeps 12 is $542.26. Do the math, unit price divided by the number of us is our per person cost for accomodations. No lite beer allowed.

We would have a SAG wagon (s) so all riding , eating, hiking and drinking can be tailored to your desires/abilities. The group will probably be together most of the time but one could certainly mix and match activities so you could, for instance, elect to ride up and back on Sat/Sun and scrap the hike. Or ride 3 days, or whatever.

This is the same weekend that "The Killer Bees" are riding from Concord. We share the route with them for half the ride. Killer Bee charges $115pp for a shared room for one night with breakfast and dinner. Our cost for 10 people in a 4 BR would be $42.75pp. Half the price for twice as many nights.

THE ROUTE

0.0 Exit 12 Park N' Ride

4.8 left on 11 at Four Corners Grille

11.2 left on 4

18.2 Right on 104 (Hippie Hill, Danbury) pass through Bristol

31.7 left on River Road (New Hampton)

40.8 right on 3&25

42.3 left on N. Ashland Rd.

45.5 left on 175 (pass through Holderness)

54.6 right on 49

64.6 WATERVILLE VALLEY

We now have 18 riders plus 2 SAG drivers and are trying to fill a 3rd condo.

We had 21 people staying in two 5 Br condos ("Peaceful Manor" and "Animal House"). The rides on Fri and Sun were perfect and sandwiched around a Sat hike of Osceola in deep snow (5 people) or the Welch-Dickey Loop (13 people).
We were able to average in the mid 20's for the first 10 miles out of Waterville but were at a contented crawl by the time we climbed into New London.
The cost was $50 per person plus we all contributed for food and brought our own drinks.
Julie may post some pics.
