Anyone planning to run Thursday?

I was thinking about a run on the Pinnacle, perhaps to Coit Summit and back from my house if anyone is interested.

I wish I could. I recently dislocated my shoulder (doing that silly mountain biking stuff) and, as I found out yesterday, it gets angry at me when I run. :(

Wow, sorry to hear that Adam. Tell us how and where it happened. Many of us know how it feels. Hope you recover quickly.

Dana

Ryan, Randy and I will be going out at 5pm from the HS.

Dana, 5pm works for me, see you at the HS.

Adam, sorry to hear of your misfortune. I guess you are the casualty of this season. I would also like to know where and how, if it's not too painful to tell the story.

I was riding up at Fox Park in Plymouth with a few friends (sidebar: which definitely a worthwhile place to wile away a couple hours if you're ever in that neck of the woods). I can make excuses, but basically I came to a spot where the trail went around a small bit of ledge and made a sharp turn down to the left (slightly steep, but nothing I'd really think about most days). Well, I came at it at a bad angle and decided to just go over the ledgy bit and turn hard. I should have thought "I'm coming at this at a really bad angle, maybe I'll just stop and try again" because as soon as my front wheel went over the edge I noticed that there were big rocks right in front of me and perhaps my turn needed to be sharper that I'd anticipated. I cut the wheel, my suspension compressed, and I went flying towards the aforementioned rocks. I avoided death (thank you helmet) but came up thinking "golly gee, my shoulder hurts." My buddy asked if it was dislocated, I said "it hurts." He poked at the bit that was sticking out funny and confirmed that it was. Fortunately he'd dislocated his multiple times and told me I could pop it back in if I used my other arm to pull the damaged one upwards while rotating it outwards (or something like that.) I figured that beat going to the hospital, so I gave it a shot... and let me tell you, once you get over the wanting to vomit sensation, the feeling microseconds after putting it back in is better than sex.
Anyway, now a week and a half later I'm biking again but somehow running just doesn't work out very well. If I'm not running by monday of next week I think I might see the doctor. How long do these things take to heal up?

Well by the sounds of it you likely don't have anything broken in there so that is the good news. Bad news is, if you have any cartilage damage it could be a very long time in healing.

What say you Dan & Dana, how did your dislocations go on healing?

I crashed June 10th. Trip to hospital no broken bones but badly sprained shoulder at joint where collar bone comes in. Been in physical therapy for 3 weeks and still going still taped up still hurts still have dropped shoulder and winged shoulder blade. It sucks and am told it can take months.
