what a race........after almost 2500 miles, the 2 leaders are separated by less than 20 minutes. Jure Robic, the favorite and 5 time champ (maybe 6) is leading, with Dani Wyss hunting him down. 500 miles to race, it has come down to a sprint. http://www.raceacrossamerica.org/raam/rcrank.php here is the leaderboard.

Sounds right up your alley PJ.

At face value it didn't look too bad, but then you start getting the details and you realize pretty quick this is one tough race. I saw the average speed and thought, 15 mph I can do that, it's only 3000 miles and I usually ride 2000 in a season, that's not much more, then I realized the clock doesn't stop til you finish so the average times include sleep plus you have to ride a minimum of 250 miles per day for 12 days just to not get disqualified, that's kind of harsh.

Entry's aren't too bad though, less then the cost of a Prouty Ultimate, of course that doesn't include the other costs like traveling 3000 miles in 12 days.

Perhaps this is a job for the skinny guys?

I have always thought that Stumbleupon.com would be a good team name for 8 of us. THe winning team averages 23+ using drafting.

I would be willing to bike 50 miles a day for 8 days......sure.

50 miles per day for 8 days sounds a lot more doable.
