Stage 1 is Lap 1 of the Pinnacle race course, the only exception is you will do all of Trapper on the finish. This is a time trial event and record your fastest time. You will start your watch from the last edge of tar by tennis courts, and stop your time in the same spot. Expect some time differences on this one. Cheney, Forest, North, Foliage, Ledge, Tower, Whipn spur, Summer, Watkins, Fern, Pinelink, Eastside, Couch, Snake, South B, Trapper, Plummet. Good luck.

I'll be headed out there on Monday (at ~6pm) to run the course if anyone is interested in joining me. (and when I say "run" I do mean two feet, not two wheels.) I figure this will give me a good time to shoot for on wednesday.

Legs can't run yet, but they can sit in a pub seat, eat wings and drink margarita's after a couple laps in the woods on Wednesday. Will the GC be shaken up?

Predictions for stage Pinnacle: Stage win ? Expect a tight battle between myself, Greg, and Nathan. All can climb well, I may have the slight edge. I will need it because Nathan and Greg are smoother and faster on the downhill. A potential sub 30 out of this group if the weather cooperates. Next wave will be very tight between Dan, Mark, and PJ. Mark?s effort will be elevated by the maillot jaune. PJ will be touting a new level of fitness post Mooseman. And Dan will be right there if he can keep it smooth and not break a chain. And then Tim, Ken, Ryan and Dana. I?m putting Tim and Ken together based on their pre-ride times, no sprint in this loop to help Ken. Dana needs time and will be fired up to close the gaps. Ryan will probably have the best time from playground to plummet. The rest, I really do not know. They do not have the advantage of the trails being a second home like the rest of us. Overall ? Will the yellow jersey boost be enough to keep Mark atop the standings? I do not think so, but I am sure he will be eager to prove me wrong. The top 3 may all be within 1 minute after this round. I am hoping for Tim to try too hard and bobble often and Ryan to forget where to go. Brian- around 30 possibly sub Greg and Nathan low 30's, like 30:14 after that it does get sketchy: 4th place will be a great battle, I am not counting anyone out. Dana has had some great runs up there, and Streak trains secretly up there. Ryan can put together a smooth ride too. If I end up last, I will take you all on eating the wings at Red Baron.

I'm hoping the sound waves from all the noises my bike makes will push me up the hills. -- Ken "If you brake, you don't win." Racer Mario Cipollini

On the route you list Tower. Do you mean Tower Circle or do you mean cut across the Tower driveway to Summer St.?

Okay? I usually don?t like doing predictions but what the heck. So -- 1st Brian - weather conditions will be favorable, regains yellow by seconds over Gurney. 2nd Greg +10 secs, I would use the geared bike? 3rd Nathan +15 secs, lack of active racing will hurt, running makes you slow on the bike 4th myself +28 secs, as long as I don?t miss any turns 5th Gurney +44 secs (yellow jersey will be baggy and serve as a parachute going downhill slowing him from catching me) loses yellow but holds on for 2nd GC 6th Dan +52 secs sorry Ken all that sprinting will cost you 7th Ryan +56 secs sorry again Ken but you will be within secs of Ryan 8th Ken + 57 secs 9th P.J. +1:01 much too tired from the Mooseman, it makes me tired just thinking about it. 10th Dana - +1:29 still waiting on summer legs 11th Streak - +/- underdog 12th Loren +2:19 you have to actually ride your mountain bike to get better. 13th Sandy +2:32 never seen you ride, so I really can?t comment? 14th Mike +2:41 another unknown for me? What time are we starting? 6:00 ? 6:30 and will there be a pre-ride/warm up? Will the starting order be based on current GC results with Mark going last? Mass start? See everyone tomorrow night---------- Tim

5:30 departure for the ride tonight. A noodle/warm up lap, then go time. Time trial status, but for fear of impediments, approx 2 minutes between riders. Dan- Northboundary fork, follow arrows and stay right its singlespeed friendly.

Your predictions look pretty close to me Tim, but I think there will be a six to eight minute gap between 1st and 10th place. My medium hard second lap on Sunday would have been about 38:00+- for this shortened course. I think we should meet at 6pm to accomodate Tim and Adam's long commute from work. Any one lap warmups for those willing to do it will probably be 40-45 minutes putting us at a 6:45 race start. OK, PJ must have been posting at the same time as me. Looks like a 5:30pm start for one lap warmup.
