Rumor for masters team is Chris, Mark, Dan, and I. Not sure if that is still the case on the part of the other three.

I'm trying to assemble a beginner team to go this year, still looking for a rider for a 4 person team. So far it will be myself an Jason (CCD) and he is supposed to get 1 more person on his side. So if anyone knows someone new to racing that wants to join let us know.

Well, I am hoping to be on a 4 person sport. Hopefully Tim and Greg are in again. I have someone in mind for a 4th person, but he usually has a party to go to that weekend.

I am in for the Master's Team, and Chris has recently confirmed it is on his calendar.

The only thing we have to decide is who is going to do the @#&*%! run.

We got the email from Great Glen this weekend too! Greg will speak for himself, but he is currently awaiting a final comp. package from Glumac--the company in CA that offered him a full tine position upon his graduation from Northeastern in May. As his student loans kick in pretty quickly, I expect that he will be moving to CA in June :( and :D. I will be sad not to be part of the pit crew at Great Glen, but will certainly save the date to show up with my camera and cheer everyone on! Newport Beach is a great place to visit! Greg will certainly keep up his riding and come back periodically to challenge all of you (and me!)--who else would ever get me to enter the Pinnacle Challenge and do Loverin Hill? 24 HOGG was truly a bonding experience for everyone who has ever done it--the Collins family only once, but the rest of you, many times. Let us know if you want to borrow the camper...

You might contact Jesse S and Eric S. to see if they are interested in the 24HOGG

Both young and strong riders.

Apparently, a potential team member has no party to go to this year. Looks like we might have our 3rd member. I will let him speak up when he is ready, not that we don't already know who it is.

Loren told me she might be interested if we can't find anyone if you wanted to convert to a co-ed team?

4 person beg. had a bit of a set back, but now we're back in the mix! 2 new guys (strong riders too!) are on board.

I'm hoping to have a "team meeting" on wednesday 4/29 at the Pinnacle w/a fat tire ride. Hopefully we'll be able to round everyone up for a 5:30 kick off.

It's never too early to start planning the camp site. With CCD having 3 four person teams with their support people we will need lots of space. Do you know if the large tent/canopy you use for the outside shop sale can be used for the 24HOGG?

Are we speaking of Johns yellow and white stripe "circus" tent? If so, I can ask him if we can borrow it. I'm thinking that it's going to be waaaaaaaaaaaaay to big though, not to mention it's kind of a bear to set up/take down (especially after you've been riding a bike all night). What are we talking about for allowed space for our 3 sites?

We have an easy up at the shop that I was planning on bringing.

we want easy. In the past we have had two teams and I recall about two easy ups two screen tents and the rest were sleeping tents. Plus room for cars and bikes. We'll need a bunch of space. We'll have to get there early Friday to claim a spot so everyone can camp together.

In your spare time at CCD you should build one of these for the 24HOGG put a little bell on it and everyone in front of you will stop to let you pass. Your team wins and everyone else is happy too.

Ken,

His name is Chris Pace, he?s a friend of mine from my former race team in TN. He?s a Cat III roadie, sport Mtbiker. He and I put together a 4-person Vet Team last Nov in TN, for a 12-hour race and took 2nd , only losing by about 6 minutes. He was the fastest one on our team, his fastest lap was around 4 minutes faster that mine. I think we have a lot to look forward to.

I'm still alive ... and will be ready for action on the Master's Team this year (unless, of course, Dan, Mark, and Dana have found someone they think would be faster ... then I would just have to go to Nashua and do a couple of crits ... which would be much easier on the equipment).

I have done some MTB riding ... but the road racing season is in full swing now. Starting tonight, I will be racing 11 times over the next 11 days ... with the last day (hopefully) being the Horror at Harding Hill.

One of my best race-day stories to date is the day in New Britain, CT that I did 4 races in one day ... for a total of 90 miles at 28.3mph ... with teammates recording wins in two of those events.

For those interested, here are the Sunapee/S&W Sports/Continental Paving Racing Team Stats to date for 2009:
201 total starts at 36 racing venues
75 top ten finishes
42 top five finishes
19 podium finishes
9 wins

Cheers,
Chris

We still need you Chris. BTW I have been off the mountain bike for a month with an injured shoulder and will be off for a couple more weeks so 24HOGG will fresh for both of us. Congratulations on your team results. Thankfully we have Mark and Dana to do the heavy lifting.

Good to hear from you Chris. I will be at Great Glen this year to play with you experienced folk. Ken, Ryan, Tim, & Friend of Tim on 4 person Sport team.

By the way, we have a new Brake Burner extension for you and your goat to get reacquainted with the mountain bike.

[quote:e28cd49af5]total of 90 miles at 28.3mph [/quote:e28cd49af5]

Is this group riding or solo? It's fast either way, just curious.

Brake Burner sounds tempting Ryan ... hopefully I will get a chance to see it before 24HOGG.

90 miles at 28.3mph ... and you have to ask if it was in a group ... you are much to kind! It was at a criterium around Walnut Park in New Britain, CT (1 mile course). First the Masters45+ race (15 miles), then the Masters35+ race (15 miles), then the Masters30+ race (20 miles), and finally, the Pro/1/2/3 race (40 miles). The carnage in the Pro/1/2/3 race was embarrasing ... Five multi-bike pileups in the last two laps ... for a total of about twenty guys out of the race out of the original one hundred competitors in the peleton! Fortunately, my teammates and I remained clear of them all.

Looking forward to catching up with you guys when our paths cross!

So far so good, but the reality is there is still a lot of moisture that is in the ground and once the race is on the the course sees significant traffic we'll see more mud and slick spots. I don't see it being like last year as there just isn't that standing water (at the moment). A lot will depend on what happens in the next week in terms of precip. If we got two windy days with no rain that would do a lot in terms of drying thing up so that the course is real fast- time will tell!

They are working on some new bog bridging in a couple problem spots, and as Dan mentioned the Chute has seen a great deal of work. I rode Outback on Tuesday and it's in good shape. As is Whiplash. the single track behind Honeymoon Cottage is out (as it was last year) just too wet.

I think we'll be in good shape, but don't kid yourself and think it's going to be a "dry" course as it won't be. It certainly won't be the dust bowl it was a few years ago! I do know I'm swinging by the hardware store to buy one of those 5 gallon manual pressure washers to have in our camp- the ones you pump up and they spray with descent force. That might be a good way to avoid the bike wash line and still keep you bike (and your shoes if they aren't already soaked) clean.

Very happy about that. Less climbing and I really hate that skinny bridge on that section.

I understand some of our team members will be in Great Glen on Friday Aug 7th. I think the camping rules say early afternoon is the first chance for setting up camp sites. I will be up in the area on Thurs and just want to get an idea when to stop by on Fri to set up my tent. I assume our three teams will try to be in the same area.

Gates open at 10am Friday. Helen and I will be there around 10 and I think Jason will be there early too. After you cross the bridge there will be a person directing you where to go usually they are on the left side of the road. Last year we camped a couple hundred yards down that path where the person was standing about 50 yards from the porta potty. The ground on the right side of the path is a little higher and better if it rains. We'll have the sliver Chevy pickup.
