This Sunday at 2 I am riding the windtower. This will be a mountain bike ride and VERY low key, as it is my rest day on the bike. Anyone is invited. Please let me know how many might show, as I sometimes do burgers and beer after the ride. My wife and son might be joining us as well on their 4 wheelers.[/quote:4ccca661d0]
This is the guy who we saw at the Rec center when we got back from Kingdom Trails. He lives on Stone Pond in Marlow and the ride is from his house.
Anyone else interested in this ride?

I assume that the "Sun" in Sun 10-8-08 Wind Turbine Ride refers to Sunday. 10-8-08 is a Wednesday.

Sounds like a good ride to get close to those big turbines, but too close to the PC for me. Maybe anoter time. Are there MTB trails all the way?
If anyone is interest, on a clear day you can see them very well from the ledge just of Brake Burner on Coit ( south-west side ).

Never done this ride before. But given 4 wheelers may join us, I'm thinking they are double track???
I'll let you know after Sunday. My caledar says its a full 7 days before the Challenge? Dan does this ride as his day off on the bike, so I'm thinking it will not be too energy intensive.

You can also see the turbines pretty good from a car on route 10 coming into Newport just after the airport on a clear day.

All dirt roads from Marlow to the Towers. We got to ride around under the towers a bit but didn't get the full tour as they were working up there. Got to see some of the blades on the ground, they are pretty impressive, as well as the towers themselves. The crane they are using to erect towers was equally impressive, (30) 5000 kg counter weights.
