The Race

  • Description:
    • The Pinnacle is race #8 in the 2007 New England Championship Series (NECS #8). The course is a 9 mile cross country mountain bike loop with tons of sweet singletrack, challenging climbs, an unforgettable technical downhill, the famous "Pinnacle Plummet", and new this year "Coit Mountain", the Pinnacle's big brother. Elites do 3 laps, Novice does 1 lap, all others do 2.
    • The race benefits the Newport Lions Club.

    • Newport High School, Newport, NH.
  • Distance: 9 mile mountain bike loop
    • Novice - 1 lap
    • Sport - 2 laps
    • Expert - 2 laps
    • Elite - 3 laps
  • Schedule:
    • 7:45-9:30 - Registration
    • 9:45 - Elite start & Racer meeting
    • 10:00-10:15 - Race start (all other classes)
    • 11:00 - BBQ
    • Awards ceremony, we will try for 2:00pm
  • Awards:
    • Custom medals to top 3 in each class
    • $875 for Elites
      • Men $150, 125, 100, 75, 50
      • Women $150, 125, 100

Directions

  • From North:
    • Take Interstate 89 south to exit 13. Follow Rt 10 south into Newport. The High School & Recreation Complex will be on your left just before you get into the center of town.
  • From South & East:
    • Take Interstate 89 north to Exit 9. Follow Rt103 west into Newport. Make right onto Rt 10 North. The High School & Recreation Complex will be on your right less than a mile from the center of town.
    • Alternately take Interstate 89 north to Exit 12. Make left onto Rt 11 and follow that west into Newport. Make right onto Rt 10 north. The High School & Recreation Complex will be on your right less than a mile from the center of town.
  • From South & West:
    • Take Interstate 91 in Vermont north to Exit 7. Take Rt 11 east through Charlestown & Claremont to Newport. Make left onto Rt 10 north. The High School & Recreation Complex will be on your right less than a mile from the center of town.
